Lavish frescoes, golden artifacts, and beautiful sculptures line the ceilings and walls of Saint Peter’s Basilica, in Rome’s Vatican City. Considered one of the holiest Catholic sites in the world, it has the largest interior of any Christian church. The basilica is the burial site of its namesake Saint Peter, who was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus. It is believed that Saint Peter's tomb is directly below the altar of the basilica.
